The MAD2000C01 module is an MPEG audio decoder for DVB Transport Streams. It can extract up to 8 audio Elementary Streams, with a maximum of 16 channels, from a Transport Stream and embed them in a 3G/HD/SD-SDI digital video signal.
The unit is equipped with a BNC DVB-ASI signal input connector, named ASI IN; a 3G/HD/SD-SDI video output connector, named SDI OUT; and two 1 Gbit/s Ethernet interfaces, named ETHERNET 1 and ETHERNET 2.
The Transport Stream from which the audio is decoded can be received as DVB-ASI through the ASI IN input connector or as DVB over IP (RTP) through the ETHERNET 1 interface.
The audio formats supported by the unit are MP2, MP3, AC3, and EAC3. When the received audio is in a multichannel format, the decoder downmixes it to a stereo pair.
In addition to the SDI OUT output, the module provides an auxiliary 3G/HD/SD-SDI output via the rear bus. This output allows the decoded and embedded audio channels to be transferred to TL2000 family audio de-embedding modules, which can convert them into analog audio signals or AES/EBU digital audio signals.
If one or two ADE2008C01 modules are installed in the slots immediately to the right of the MAD2000C01, the 16 decoded audio channels can be converted into analog audio signals.
If a DED2008C01 module is installed in the slot immediately to the right, the 16 decoded audio channels can be converted into AES/EBU digital audio signals.
The ETHERNET 2 interface is reserved for remote monitoring of the unit.
